Customized 20 Ton Rubber Tyred Gantry Crane for Bus Handling

Exciting update! We recently supplied a 20 ton rubber tyred gantry crane to a bus manufacturing plant in Russia. This plant specializes in producing buses, so the client needed a lifting solution that could efficiently handle these heavy loads while maintaining safety and flexibility in their operations.

Client’s Concern About Bus Handling Solution

The main concern was that the buses being manufactured at the facility were fixed in width, but their length varied. Traditional lifting solutions, which typically work on uniform dimensions, would not accommodate this variability, potentially leading to challenges in handling different sizes of bus bodies. The customer needed a lifting system that could adjust to the varying lengths of the buses while ensuring that the lifting process remained safe, efficient, and flexible.

Our Custom Solution to Handle Buses of Different Lengths

After carefully considering the customer’s needs, we proposed a tailored lifting solution using a 20 ton rubber tyred gantry crane with four adjustable lifting points.

Rubber Tyred Gantry Crane with Four Adjustable Lifting Points

Specifically, the crane’s lifting system was designed to lift the bus body perpendicular to the main beam, which is crucial for flexibility in handling varying lengths. Additionally, the lifting point itself was designed to be adjustable in the direction perpendicular to the main beam, allowing it to accommodate different bus sizes.

To ensure that the lifting point could be adjusted accurately and safely, we implemented an upper and lower double-layer main beam structure – an innovative design that provides both stability and flexibility. This design ensures that the crane could handle varying bus lengths while maintaining the required safety and performance standards.

Successful Assembly and Testing

Once the rubber wheeled gantry crane was delivered to the customer’s facility, our team oversaw the assembly and installation process. After the crane was assembled, a series of tests were conducted to ensure its performance met the customer’s requirements.

  • No-Load Test: The crane was first tested without any load to ensure that all systems were functioning correctly, and the lifting point adjustment mechanism worked smoothly.
  • Load Test: Following the no-load test, a load test was carried out with a bus body to ensure that the crane could safely handle the expected weight and lift the body with precision.

Both tests were successfully completed without any issues, confirming that the crane met the performance standards and safety requirements.

By leveraging our expertise and experience in rubber tyred gantry crane design and manufacturing, we were able to provide a tailored solution that addressed the unique challenges faced by the bus manufacturing plant.
