Anchor winch for sale is mainly used to retrieve and release anchors and chains on board. The driving form of the anchor winch can be electric and hydraulic. The warping head on both sides can be used for line handling. The winch is mainly composed of sprocket shaft, anchor sprocket, warping head, clutch, transmission mechanism and brake mechanism.
Types of Anchor Winch for Sale
Electric anchor winch
Model | Electric Anchor Winch |
Dia of anchor chain/rope | ø12mm – ø128mm |
No. of gypsy | Single or double |
Load capacity | 1 ton- 100 ton |
Speed | 9-11 m/min |
Certificate | BV, ABS, DNV, RMRS, etc |
The electric windlass is the most widely used on ships. The windlass is powered by an electric motor, which drives the main shaft to rotate after multi-stage deceleration through the gears in the reduction gearbox. Due to the high speed reduction ratio requirement, the speed reduction mechanism is relatively large. This electric anchor winch windlass is mainly used for small and medium-sized ships, and suitable for anchor chain diameters of 16mm-93mm.
Hydraulic anchor winch
Model | Hydraulic Anchor Winch |
Dia of anchor chain/rope | ø12mm – ø128mm |
Speed | 9-11 m/min |
Load capacity | 1 ton- 100 ton |
Certificate | BV, ABS, DNV, RMRS, etc |
Electro-hydraulic winch, also called hydraulic winch, is widely used for large and medium-sized ships. It is suitable for anchor chain diameters of 16mm-120mm. When the hydraulic winch is working, the electric motor drives the hydraulic pump, the generated oil pressure drives the oil motor, and then passes through the reducer (or no reducer) to make the windlass run.
This winch has compact structure, small power and transmission parts, smooth operation, and good shifting performance. However, it has high manufacturing technology and maintenance requirements, and requires more maintenance care.
Features of hydraulic anchor winch:
- It has good speed regulation performance.
- A low-speed, high-torque hydraulic motor is usually used, which has a low rotation speed and a large output torque.
- The hydraulic transmission has self-braking performance, sothe work is safe and reliable.
- It is easy to realize remote control and automation.
In a word, hydraulic windlass winch is a more economical and reliable choice for large and highly automated ships.

Applications of Ship Anchor Winch
Ship anchoring is a common method of berthing. The process is as follows:
An anchor linked by a chain or cable is thrown into the water and bite into the soil. The holding force generated by the anchors is consolidated with the bottom of the water, so that the ship is firmly anchored in a predetermined position.
According to different waters, meteorological conditions and operational requirements, the anchoring methods are different. Commonly used anchoring methods are:
- Bow anchor
- Stern anchor
- Bow and stern anchor

Technical Requirements of Marine Anchor Winch
- The winch is driven by an independent prime mover or electric motor. If the hydraulic pipeline of the hydraulic winch is connected with other deck machinery pipelines, the normal operation of the winch should be ensured not to be affected.
- When pulling an anchor from the water depth of 82.5m to the depth of 27.5m at an average speed of not less than 9m/min, the windlass should have the ability to work continuously for 30min.
- The winch should be able to work continuously for 2 minutes under the action of overload tension. The overload tension should not be less than 1.5 times the working load.
- The sprocket or drum of the winch should be equipped with reliable brakes.
- The chain brake should be able to withstand the test load equivalent to the anchor chain, and its stress should not exceed 90% of its material yield point.
- The installation of the winch should ensure that the anchor chainwheel, chain brake and sprocket are in line when the anchor chain is drawn out.
Inspection and Maintenance Tips of Anchor Winch
- Always checkwhether the brakes and clutches are in good working conditions.
- Lubricate regularly, and pay special attention to the lubrication of the friction surfaces of the parts.
- The oil in the gearbox should be regularly checked and replaced to ensure its cleanliness.
- The teeth of sprockets are easy to wear, and the limit is set to not exceed 10% of the original thickness.
- If slip chains or chain jumps are found, they should be repaired in time.
- The fastening bolts and base of the winch should be checked for looseness and rust.
- The erosion of the windlass base should generally be less than 25% of the original thickness.
- The winch should be checked once every 3 months, except for the base.
