40T Rubber Tyred Gantry Crane for Lifting Steel Tanks in the US
Basic Information of the Project
40 Ton Crane For Lifting Steel Tanks
Project Process: How We Deliver Solution for the Steel Tank Manufacturer
We first connected with Mr. Hester through Google, where he found our company while searching for rubber tyred gantry cranes. Mr. Hester is the purchasing manager for a prominent steel tank manufacturer in Floresville, Texas. Founded in 1964, this family-run business is now in its third generation and has become a leader in prefabricated tank construction. They cater to various tank storage needs, including UL-certified underground and above-ground fuel storage tanks and API-type storage tanks. For the past 20 years, they have consistently won quality awards from the Steel Tank Institute, solidifying their reputation as a top steel tank manufacturer in the industry.
Mr. Hester was intrigued by the various rubber tyred gantry crane solutions showcased on our website. He believed our cranes could resolve the tank transportation issues his plant was facing. Initially, the plant used forklifts for transportation, which proved inefficient and cumbersome, especially for larger tanks. Additionally, forklifts required skilled operators, increasing overall costs. Therefore, Mr. Hester reached out to us for a customized rubber tyre gantry crane that would suit their operational needs – transferring the processed tanks in the factory yard, as well as loading and unloading them on trucks.
Initial Inquiry Requirements:
- 30-ton hydraulic rubber tyred gantry crane
- 40ft lifting height
- 60ft width
Throughout the technical proposal discussions, we collaborated closely with Mr. Hester to repeatedly modify and adjust the width and height of the crane, ensuring that our rubber tyred gantry crane would perfectly fit their site and future needs for larger tank transportation. Using 3D video demonstrations and in-depth technical reviews, we identified and addressed Mr. Hester’s concerns, continuously optimizing and adjusting the proposal.
Mr. Hester compared the technical specifications and pricing of both 30-ton and 40-ton solutions. Considering the overall procurement cost, budget, site conditions, and actual tank transportation needs, they ultimately selected the 40-ton hydraulic rubber tyred gantry crane.
Production – The crane underwent over 90 days of production. Durability and quality were a top priority in the manufacturing process of our rubber tyred gantry cranes, with our team carefully selecting high-quality materials. These materials underwent thorough testing for reliability and corrosion resistance, ensuring the crane’s extended lifespan in demanding industrial settings. Using advanced machinery and implementing stringent quality control measures, each crane component was strictly crafted. All this is done to provide our customer with reliable, sturdy lifting equipment.
Testing – We pre-assembled the steel structure, tested the hydraulic and electrical components, and conducted the final test run. The tests of this mobile gantry crane included assessments for straight-forward and backward movements, precise steering in multiple directions (including 360°, 90°, and Ackermann steering), as well as thorough test of trolley lifting and running with a load. During testing, we recorded the operation and performance and shared the video with Mr. Hester for confirmation before shipment.
Shipment – The equipment was then disassembled, labeled, and packaged for sea freight, arriving on schedule at the nearest port.
In April 2024, under the guidance of Aicrane engineers, the equipment was successfully installed and tested on-site. The crane adapted perfectly to the existing ground conditions and offered multiple maneuvering capabilities such as forward and backward movement, 90-degree lateral shifts, 45-degree diagonal moves, and in-place rotation. This flexibility allowed for efficient transportation of processed tanks within the site, outperforming the previous forklift system. The crane’s wireless remote control simplified operations, enabling workers to operate it after brief training, in contrast to the costly and extensive training required for forklift operators.
Currently, the YTL 40-ton gantry crane is actively used for daily transportation and loading of new tanks in the plant yard, operating efficiently and effectively. The team is highly satisfied with its performance.
Two months after deploying the equipment, Mr. Hester contacted us with a new requirement for another rubber tyred gantry crane. This new crane will be used in his factory to further improve work efficiency and processes. Our team is currently working with Mr. Hester to finalize the technical specifications, aiming to deliver a solution that perfectly meets their needs.
