Singe girder: consists of one bridge girder and two end trucks. Single girder crane is suitable for light duty and moderate service, with reduced costs, easier and faster installation, convenient and safe operation.

Selection of A Material Handling Overhead Crane
Selecting the right material handling overhead crane is of great significance for improving work efficiency and safety, giving full play to the effective functions of cranes, reducing the cost of use, improving economic benefits and ensuring safe operation. In the selection of a material handling overhead crane, you need to consider a few things in order to identify the right one for the job.
- Specify the basic parameters of the crane
The basic parameters of the material handling overhead crane include rated load capacity, span, lifting height, work duty, working speed, etc. These information is very important for the proposal.
- Determine the structural form of the crane
Choosing the appropriate bridge, trolley, control mode and lifting attachments can make the crane better meet the requirements of use under various specific installation size and operating methods.
Bridge is the main load-bearing member of the crane, which consists of one or two main beams and one end beam on each side of the span. Generally, a single beam overhead crane can be used when the lifting capacity is less than 10 tons, the work duty is low, the running speed is not high, and the crane is not frequently used. Single beam crane usually uses electric hoist as a lifting mechanism, which has a compact structure, light weight and relatively low cost. Double beam crane has good stability, high work efficiency and high performance, ideal for heavier-duty applications.
Hoist and trolley are lifting mechanism of the crane. Single girder crane usually uses electric hoist as the lifting mechanism, and the hoist is suspended from the lower part of the single-beam. Double girder crane generally uses top-running hoist trolley, which has large load carrying capacity and stable operation.
Overhead crane can be controlled from the ground using handheld pendant or wireless remote control, or from the driver’s cabin. For cranes with large lifting capacity, high working level and fast running speed, the driver’s cab is usually used to ensure safe operation.
Selecting the right picking device is critical to ensuring high work efficiency and safe operation. In order to meet the lifting, loading and unloading requirements of various materials, material handling overhead cranes can be equipped with different lifting devices. Hook is the most widely used picking device. Grab is mainly used for handling bulk materials. Electromagnetic chuck is suitable for handling magnetic black metals.
- Other special requirements
Do you have any special requirements for the crane? In order to make the overhead cranes meet the use requirements under special environmental conditions or under specific working conditions, special requirements can be put forward on the crane’s operating performance, including environmental requirements, safety protection requirements, etc.
Overhead cranes generally work in the temperature range of -20 ℃ ~ 40 ℃. When exceeding the range, special measures should be taken when designing the cranes.
Rainproof measures should be taken when using cranes outdoors. Hoist and trolley, crane travelling mechanism and electrical device should be equipped with rain covers.
If the crane is used in a dusty environment, the electrical device should have a dustproof function.
The crane used in the environment with explosive and flammable mixed gas should choose explosion-proof type.
To ensure safer and more reliable operation, some safety protection devices should be selected according to your specific situations. For example, an overload limiter is added to a crane that is prone to overload; multiple frequently operated cranes in the same span should be equipped with anti-collision devices.
